Nicomed Bohay

Managing Director

Mr. Bohay has over 25 years’ experience in agricultural finance with background in banking. Prior to joining EFTA, he had previously worked as the Managing Director at PASS, where he introduced Agribusiness Innovation Centre for incubation of youth into agribusiness and founded PASS lease finance company to facilitate farmers access to agricultural equipment. He had also previously worked as Head of Agribusiness at CRDB Bank PLC, served as member in the investment committee of SAGCOT CTF, Tanzania Country Program Committee for EAGC, Board of Trustees of AGITF and Technical Advisory Panel at TaCRI. He holds Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) from University of Mysore, India and MBA from University of Leicester, U.K. and has extensive post graduate training from Kenyan School of Monetary Studies in Nairobi, Imperial College, London, Wits Business School, Johannesburg, and University of Cape Town, among others.

Leonce Malamsha

Head of Operation

Leonce joined EFTA LTD in 2014 as Senior Investment Officer and he grew to Branch Manager, Special Loans & Partnership Manager and currently the Head of Operations. Before that he worked with Standard Chartered Bank in Branch Operations for two years and later as Branch Manager and Regional Operations Manager at Barclays Bank Tanzania for nine years.

Leonce holds Master of Business Administration from Eastern & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) and an Advance Diploma in Certified Accountancy from Mzumbe University

Mussa Mwachaga

Head of Finance

Mussa joined EFTA in June 2020 as Financial Controller. Prior to joining EFTA, Mussa worked as General Manager Finance at Bank of Africa Tanzania for 9 years, heading up the Tanzanian Finance function. Previously Mussa spent 5 years at CRDB Plc as a Bank Officer. Mussa is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from Mzumbe University.

Emmanuel Richard

Head Internal Audit

Emmanuel joined EFTA in June 2020 as Head of Internal Audit. Most recently, he worked with Vision Fund Tanzania Microfinance Bank Ltd as the Head of Internal Audit and Investigations for more than six years. Prior to that he worked with the Pan African Auditors as External Auditor, with PRIDE Tanzania Ltd as the Senior Internal Auditor, and with PRIDE Rural Financing Window as the Head of Internal Audit. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Currently he is pursuing Masters of Business Administration with ESAMI Arusha.

Goodluck Philipo

Head of Credit

Goodluck joined EFTA in 2015 as an Investment Officer. He moved to the EFTA head office at Moshi as a Senior Operations Officer in 2017 and became the Credit Manager in 2019. Prior to joining EFTA he worked with FINCA microfinance bank for four years as a Loan Supervisor. He has experience in lending and business analysis. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture.

Lucy Bwana

Head of Human Resource and Legal

Lucy Bwana joined EFTA on March 2021 as Head of HR and Administration. Before that she has worked as a HR Manager at Brighter Monday Tanzania. She has broad knowledge and experience on HR and Legal matters. Overall, she has Six year in HR and Four years in legal practice. She is passionate in providing support to the staff, foresee their performance and maintain amicable work relations. She performs her work by aligning organizational objectives with personal goals to ensure high productivity to the Organization. She has Bachelor of Laws from Mzumbe University.

Jeremy Lefroy

Director

Jeremy was previously Member of Parliament in the British Parliament for Stafford and Managing Director of African Specialty Products, which markets coffee and cocoa from East Africa and develops new businesses which add value to agricultural production. He returned to the UK in 2000 following 11 years as General Manager and Managing Director of the African Coffee Company Ltd in Tanzania.

Clement Kwayu

Director

Clement is Co-Founder and Director of EFTA. Clement also acts as Managing Director of BUMACO, EFA’s partner in Tanzania. BUMACO is a well-established management consultancy and insurance brokerage business, with offices in Moshi (Kilimanjaro region) and Dar es Salaam. Clement is a specialist in co-operatives and rural development and founded BUMACO in 1982.

James de la Fargue

Director

James is a Zimbabwean citizen with a BA (Hons) Business Administration and ACCA, who worked in Europe for several years with Unilever PLC, Deloitte and the French group Chargeurs SA. In Zimbabwe, he was head of corporate finance at Merchant Bank of Central Africa (MBCA). James has extensive experience in both agriculture and financial services in the region, previously served on the boards of NMB Bank and African Century Leasing in Zimbabwe and several companies in Mozambique.

Christopher Isaac

Director

Chris has been working in development finance in Africa for the past 20 years. He is Chief Investment Officer and one of the founding directors of AgDevCo, a leading African agribusiness investment fund. He previously worked in infrastructure project development with InfraCo Africa; as an economic adviser in the UK’s Department for International Development; and as an economist in the Ministry of Finance in Namibia. He started his career in corporate finance with Arthur Andersen. Chris holds economics degrees from University College, Oxford (BA Hons) and the London School of Economics (MSc).

John Jakobsson

Director

Mr. Jakobsson has 10+ years’ experience in the banking, finance and investment industry. He started his career in London at RBS/ NatWest in Leveraged Finance for Financial Sponsors. He later joined Rift Valley Corporation where he worked across a range of different operational and finance roles in agriculture and renewable energy. Before joining AgDevCo, where he serves as Investment Director, Mr. Jakobsson also worked for a Swiss asset management company and a Swedish venture philanthropy fund.
Mr. Jakobsson is a Director of EFTA in Tanzania and EFKEN in Kenya.

Educational Qualification: Mr. Jakobsson holds a Master of Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics, and a BSc (Hons) in Management from the University of Warwick.
