Mr. Bohay has over 25 years’ experience in agricultural finance with background in banking. Prior to joining EFTA, he had previously worked as the Managing Director at PASS, where he introduced Agribusiness Innovation Centre for incubation of youth into agribusiness and founded PASS lease finance company to facilitate farmers access to agricultural equipment. He had also previously worked as Head of Agribusiness at CRDB Bank PLC, served as member in the investment committee of SAGCOT CTF, Tanzania Country Program Committee for EAGC, Board of Trustees of AGITF and Technical Advisory Panel at TaCRI. He holds Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) from University of Mysore, India and MBA from University of Leicester, U.K. and has extensive post graduate training from Kenyan School of Monetary Studies in Nairobi, Imperial College, London, Wits Business School, Johannesburg, and University of Cape Town, among others.

Clement Kwayu is the Co-Founder and Director of Equity for Tanzania (EFTA) and the founder of the BUMACO Group (Business Management Consultant), which encompasses BUMACO Ltd, BUMACO Insurance Company, and BUMACO Life Insurance Company. BUMACO Insurance, the first locally-owned insurance company in Tanzania, is widely recognized and distributed across the country. An expert in business, cooperatives, and rural development, Clement has collaborated with both local and international organizations', as well as faith-based entities, to foster financial inclusion and drive sustainable development. Renowned for his integrity and ethical leadership, Clement holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from the University of Nairobi.

Michiel Timmerman

Michiel Timmerman co-founded EFTA Ltd in Tanzania in 2005 and EFAfrica Group, the holding company for EFKen and EFTA, in 2020. Michiel is the chairman of EFAfrica Group and Founder and Managing Partner of Mbuyu Capital Partners, an Africa-focused private equity investment manager. He is also a non-executive director of LAFCo Ltd, which finances working capital for SMEs in the African agriculture sector.

Chris has been working in development finance in Africa for the past 20 years. He is Chief Investment Officer and one of the founding directors of AgDevCo, a leading African agribusiness investment fund. He previously worked in infrastructure project development with InfraCo Africa; as an economic adviser in the UK’s Department for International Development; and as an economist in the Ministry of Finance in Namibia. He started his career in corporate finance with Arthur Andersen. Chris holds economics degrees from University College, Oxford (BA Hons) and the London School of Economics (MSc).Educational Qualification: MSc Economics

Jeremy Lefroy
Chairperson
Jeremy Lefroy’s work involves smallholder agriculture in Africa; supporting growth of jobs and livelihoods in the UK and East Africa; and working with partners to tackle infectious diseases.
A chartered accountant (FCA), Jeremy has worked for 30 years in the coffee and cocoa business – including 11 in Tanzania. He co-founded the Biolands Group (now part of Barry Callebaut AG) and the Equity for Africa Group. He was a UK Member of Parliament (2010-19) and the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Ethiopia (2017-19). In addition to chairing the Relationships Foundation, Jeremy is vice chair of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Staffordshire.

Doxa is partner at ENDOXA who heads the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Practice and Banking and Finance Practice. Her focus areas are financial technology (fintech), banking and finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisition, insurance, competition law, trade and investment and regulatory compliance for the financial sector and energy and oil and gas sector. Prior to working in house, she was in private practice in a leading law firm in Tanzania.Doxa spent more than 15 years heading the legal departments of multinational banks, Citibank Tanzania, Stanbic Bank Tanzania, National Bank of Commerce and Ecobank Tanzania. She was also the first Country Counsel for BG International (Tanzania Branch), an oil and gas company which was part of the UK BG Group where she worked on the LNG project.

Mr. Jakobsson has 10+ years’ experience in the banking, finance and investment industry. He started his career in London at RBS/ NatWest in Leveraged Finance for Financial Sponsors. He later joined Rift Valley Corporation where he worked across a range of different operational and finance roles in agriculture and renewable energy. Before joining AgDevCo, where he serves as Investment Director, Mr. Jakobsson also worked for a Swiss asset management company and a Swedish venture philanthropy fund.
Mr. Jakobsson is a Director of EFTA in Tanzania and EFKEN in Kenya.Educational Qualification: Mr. Jakobsson holds a Master of Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics, and a BSc (Hons) in Management from the University of Warwick.
